OK, let’s get back into the quote analysis business. It’s a lot of fun to learn from the thoughts of some of the great thinkers throughout history. I love to look at the words of wisdom of someone who was highly successful at achieving what he/she wanted to achieve in life and deriving my own thoughts and ideas from these words.
Today, I am going to take five such quotes and say a few of my own words about each. Then, I want you to leave a comment with your own thoughts on one of these quotes. Let’s learn from each other!
1) “Do the thing you fear and the death of fear is certain.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
Fear is all in the mind. Facing fears and doing the things that you fear will make fear non-existant. The only way to conquer fear is to face it. Fortunately, facing fear is a guaranteed way to conquer it. There are few things in life as certain as this.
2) “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude. Don’t complain.” -Maya Angelou
We all have to realize that there are some things in life that we can’t control. Complaining about everything that we do not life is a waste of time and energy. Instead focus on creating positivity through the things that you can control.
3) “It is your very imperfections that make you the ideal teacher of the lessons that you are learning.” -Story Waters
The best things to learn from in life are your own experiences. The only way to learn from these experiences is to attempt things. Do not simply wait for things to be safe. Experiment and try new things. Understand that you will not always experience immediate success. Try and fail. Then try better and fail better. Then keep trying until you find success.
4) “The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain.” -Dolly Parton
The only reason we have great things in life is because we also have bad things. In order to appreciate success, you must learn to deal with failure. In order to appreciate joy, you must experience sorrow. Do not let the bad get you down. Instead, realize that it will only make the good things in life even better.
5) “Patience has its limits. Take it too far, and it’s cowardice.” -George Jackson
It is good to be patient, for a certain period of time. However, if you find that you are always patient, you are likely sitting back too much. Do not wait for the time to be just right to do things. Take some risks and seek out new opportunities. The best day to try something new is TODAY!
Now what can you take from these quotes?
